Melody's Song Ch. 4The icy streaks of rain splattering against my skin had been shocking enough to stir up some energy in me, and not before long I was on my feet and running. I should have been grateful that the rain was coming down so fast and cold, soothing my burning skin. Instead, all the rain was just making me miserable. At the moment, I didn't really care that the rain meant that the dry hart wave would be over. If anything, it would probably only make it more humid. When I appeared on my doorstep, raw hands banging against the slick metal door, I looked down and took in my appearance for the first time. I really was a sight for sore eyes. Melody's Song: Ch. 3When my dazed eyes slid open I was choking, trying to see something other than the fuzzy view of the treetops, occasional pieces of bright blue peeking through the many shades of green. My mouth was full, gritty water spilling from it, splashing against my soaked beater, which was now clinging to my skin even more than before. Weakly shifting some of my weight onto my right elbow, I rolled over, letting the rest of the water pour from my mouth. Gratefully taking in huge gasps of air, my ruddy fingers dug some into the grass that was on the muddy bank I was lying on. Once I’d caught my breath, I slowly lifted my eyes, looking around.
